At Martos Invisible Footprints Animal Refuge we strive to carefully match every pet with a wonderful new owner that is ideally suited to their individual personalities, daily exercise and care needs. It is very important to us that we do everything in our power to ensure a good fit between our pets and their prospective new owners for a great long-term fit that ideally benefits everyone involved best. It is for this reason that we have a detailed questionnaire that each new owner must complete and return for our review to assess the viability of our pets into every prospective new home before we allow permanent adoptions or foster care home stays. Our volunteer teamers all invest a lot of time, money and resources to rescue and rehabilitate each one of our precious animals to ensure a successful long-term home. We truly want to see them to go to a home where they will be loved, properly cared for and treated like one of the family in a safe, loving, supportive and healthy nurturing environment. It is for this reason that we have created a detailed questionnaire for every prospective adopter to complete and return to us for evaluation. We will then schedule an appointment for the adopter to see the pets of interest to them and every potential adopter is welcome and encouraged to bring their family members and other animals who will also be involved in the animals life to ensure a great connection that will help to ensure permanent adoption success!
A Lifelong Friend, Thanks to the Shelter's Care

A Perfect Match
James & Podevilla
I first heard about our local Martos community shelter through my friend Cristi who had a great experience adopting an adorable little chihuahua named Peri. Cristi referred me to the refuge via their online facebook page to see all of the amazing animals they had available for adoption. When I first visited their Facebook page, I immediately fell in love with a super cute 7 month old Podenco puppy rescue name Povedilla (Po). My husband Pete and I had already rescued a beautiful little 2 month old Ratonero Bodeguero we named Gia 7 months before, who Pete had found abandoned on the mountain he jogs on daily in the bitter cold. We soon saw that our family was not complete without a playmate for Gia which prompted our search to find Povedilla who would end up becoming an amazing permanent member of our family! After Pete, Gia and I visited Povedilla at the refuge, we all immediately feel in love with his sweet and playful spirit and knew we found the permanent new family member we didn’t even know we were missing! Alba was the volunteer teamer at the refuge who loved and took excellent care of Povedilla for the seven months he was at the refuge since being rescued as a puppy, and we have sent Alba and the rescue team fotos and updated stories of his progress to show how happy and well-adjusted he is in his new home with us! We can not thank everyone at the refuge enough for all the love, care and ongoing support we have received from everyone on the volunteer rescue team. They all really are the BEST!
