It all started with a heartfelt recommendation from a friend.
My friend Cristi had recently adopted a tiny chihuahua named Peri from our local Refugio de Animales Huellas Invisibles in Martos. She couldnβt stop talking about the positive experience and how much love and care the animals received there. Curious and hopeful, I visited their Facebook page to see the animals available for adoptionβand thatβs when I saw him.
A sweet, 7-month-old Podenco puppy named Povedilla (Po). One look at his photo, and I was completely smitten.
My husband Pete and I werenβt strangers to rescue, we had adopted Gia, a beautiful 2-month-old Ratonero Bodeguero puppy, seven months earlier. Pete found her abandoned on the side of the cold mountain trail where he jogs daily. From the moment Gia entered our lives, she filled our home with love. But we soon realized that something, or someone, was missing. Gia needed a playmate, and we needed to open our hearts again.
Together with Pete and Gia, I went to visit Povedilla at the refuge. The moment we met him, we all fell in love. He was sweet, playful, and full of life, everything we didnβt know we were looking for, and more. He fit perfectly into our family from day one.
We later learned that Alba, one of the incredible volunteers at the shelter, had cared for Povedilla since he was rescued as a tiny puppy. Her dedication and love were obvious in how happy and trusting he already was. Weβve kept in touch with Alba and the team, regularly sharing photos and updates of Povedillaβnow thriving in his forever home.
We honestly canβt thank the team at Huellas Invisibles enough. The love, care, and ongoing support weβve received is truly unmatched. They are the reason our family feels whole.
