Rufus

Character

He arrived withdrawn, a natural result of the confinement he endured from such a young age. But little by little, he’s becoming more confident. Rufus is a good-hearted dog who was denied freedom as just a puppy. He grows more affectionate by the day. Sociable with other dogs—he shares his yard without any issues.

History

Rufus was seized by the police along with several others, following numerous complaints from concerned neighbors. The dogs had been left alone, day and night, barking in desperation. Their cries could be heard from far-off streets.

They stuck their heads out through the shattered glass of the front door, trying to escape their nightmare. Some of them still bear scars on their faces. Through the glass, the inside of the home revealed heartbreaking conditions—covered in filth, excrement, and neglect.

Thankfully, the police reached out to us for help. Now, Rufus and the others are beginning to heal and leave their traumatic past behind. For Rufus, a new chapter is starting—far away from the darkness he once knew.
