Our founder Antonia Escuchas’ personal passion and life-long mission has always been to save every animal in need no matter what type of animal or how difficult the situation! There are few people in the world who have spent their whole life living their personal and professional passion for animal rescue to become a driving indomitable force of nature in quite the same way that Antonia has in Martos, Andalucia, Spain. Antonia has accomplished this amazing feat through advocating for animal welfare and rehabilitation in every way possible to make every animal’s life better since she was a child! Her personal motto of “No animal left behind” has not just been an inspiration and battle cry for our amazing volunteer teamer staff, but has also been our collective driving mantra for saving the thousands of diverse types of injured, abused, neglected and abandoned animals in need which our no kill refuge has rescued and rehabilitated over the last 40 years! A very special place where every animal who is unadoptable due to illness, injury or its own special needs can find a loving, supportive, safe and healthy home environment to roam free and get the proper medical care and personalized attention they so desperately need and deserve! Animal welfare in Spain has been dire for quite some time but is steadily improving thanks to the efforts of those like Antonia around Spain who love and value every sentient animal’s life like they do their own. Antonia Escuchas and our volunteer teamers are always vigilant and ready to rescue any animals we find or are notified about who are in need of rescue and rehabilitation. We share many of our unique real life rescue stories and videos to show the extent of the extraordinary lengths we go to in order to save all of these precious animal’s lives. We have saved horses who farmers had destined for slaughter as being past their usable prime, pigs who had been deemed as not worthy of slaughter for food that were then dumped and left alone to die in the woods, newborn puppies who hunters had tied up in a plastic bag and then thrown in the nearby city trash dumpster to die of dehydration in the extreme 40 degree summer heat, newborn kittens who were tied up in a bag and thrown in the river to drown. We all truly believe and know in our hearts and souls that there is no greater calling than to save and rescue a sentient beings life who is in desperate need of help! These are just a few of the many desperate and life-threatening time critical rescue stories that we face every single day! This is why we work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to make a positive difference in the life of every animal we rescue! We are a small but dedicated family of volunteers who desperately need your help through joining our amazing volunteer teamer staff!
